Cursor launches Automations for always-on cloud agents with event triggers
Automations for Always-On Agents
Cursor now supports Automations, a new capability for building and deploying always-on agents that perform work autonomously based on triggers and predefined instructions.
How Automations Work
Automations can be triggered in two ways:
- Scheduled runs based on a time-based schedule
- Event-driven triggers from external systems including Slack, Linear, GitHub, PagerDuty, and custom webhooks
When an automation is invoked, the system spins up a cloud sandbox environment where your agent executes instructions using the configured MCPs (Model Context Protocol integrations) and language models.
Key Capabilities
- Memory tool support — Agents can access a memory tool to learn from previous runs and improve with repetition
- Multi-source integration — Native support for popular development tools (Slack, Linear, GitHub, PagerDuty) plus webhook support for custom integrations
- Template marketplace — Start building with pre-built templates available in the Cursor marketplace
Getting Started
Developers can create and manage automations at cursor.com/automations, with a template marketplace available to jumpstart projects. Additional details are available in the full announcement and documentation.
