Key Features and Updates

Databricks shipped several significant platform improvements in February 2026:

Testing and Development

The workspace now includes integrated Python unit testing capabilities, allowing developers to discover, run, and debug pytest-based tests directly within the IDE. The feature provides a dedicated tests sidebar, inline execution glyphs, and a testing results panel for streamlined test workflow.

Compliance and Security

Two new compliance features are now available: ISMAP compliance support (generally available) enables workspaces to meet Japanese government cloud certification requirements. Additionally, HITRUST compliance controls entered public preview, helping organizations manage risk and demonstrate security and privacy compliance. These updates reflect Databricks' focus on regulated industry adoption.

Runtime and Infrastructure

Maintenance updates are available across eight supported Databricks Runtime versions (12.2 through 18.0), delivering bug fixes, security patches, and performance improvements. JAR tasks on serverless compute moved to public preview, expanding serverless capabilities. The Databricks ODBC Driver was renamed from Simba Spark ODBC Driver, with existing versions supported for two years. Serverless outbound IPs are now retrievable via public JSON endpoint in preview.

Data Integration and Models

ADBC (Arrow Database Connectivity) is now the default driver for new Power BI connections, improving performance and modern data access patterns. New foundation models are available through Mosaic AI Model Serving: OpenAI GPT-5.3 Codex for advanced code generation, and Google Gemini 3.1 Pro Preview. A new SQL feature allows adding and updating comments on streaming tables, now generally available.
