Major Features Now Available
Genie Agent Mode enters public preview, enabling multi-step reasoning and hypothesis testing for answering both straightforward and complex business questions. This represents a significant enhancement to Databricks' conversational analytics capabilities.
Dashboard Embedding for External Users is now generally available, allowing organizations to embed AI/BI dashboards in external applications without requiring viewers to maintain Databricks accounts. This feature includes the ability to hide the Databricks logo in embedded dashboards via the hideDatabricksLogo option.
Chat in Databricks One (beta) provides a unified, full-screen interface for interacting with Genie. The system intelligently routes questions to relevant Genie spaces or answers them directly using available data assets.
Dashboard and Visualization Enhancements
Dashboard improvements include:
- Mobile layouts: Automatic responsive rendering for small screens
- Custom fonts: Authors can now select custom fonts with fallback to defaults
- Accounting-style number formatting: Negative values display in parentheses with aligned currency symbols
- Individual filter clearing: Remove single filter selections without resetting all active filters
- Custom subscription email subjects: Authors can customize notification email subject lines
- Metric view lineage highlighting: Hover interactions now highlight visualizations built on metric views
- Certification and deprecation status indicators in the lineage panel
Chart and data visualization updates include pivot table drill-through, waterfall chart faceting, point map auto-recentering on filter changes, and improved AI chart suggestions.
API and Workspace-Level Improvements
Genie space management APIs are now generally available, including CreateSpace, UpdateSpace, GenieGetSpace, GenieListSpaces, and GenieTrashSpace. The platform resolved bugs with instruction length limits in these APIs and improved context handling to reduce message loss.
Genie Code (public preview) enables automated multi-step dashboard workflows using natural language prompts to create datasets, visualizations, layouts, and filters.
Account-level Databricks One (beta) provides unified access to dashboards, Genie spaces, and Databricks Apps across all workspaces in an account, with cross-account search and recommendations.
Additional improvements include workspace-level color palettes for charts, Unity Catalog metric view support in Excel and Google Sheets, and enhanced date range parameters.
