Databricks AI/BI releases dashboard embedding, mobile layouts, and Genie Agent mode expansion

Dashboard Features

Databricks has made dashboard embedding for external users generally available, allowing organizations to embed AI/BI dashboards in external applications without requiring viewers to have Databricks accounts. New customization options include the ability to hide the Databricks logo in embedded dashboards using the hideDatabricksLogo option.

Dashboards now support mobile-responsive layouts that automatically render in a mobile-friendly format when viewed on small screens. Additional UI enhancements include:

  • Clear individual filters: Remove single filter selections without resetting all active filters
  • Custom subscription email subjects: Edit notification email subject lines when configuring dashboard subscriptions
  • Accounting-style number formatting: Display negative values in parentheses with vertically aligned currency symbols
  • Custom fonts: Select custom fonts for dashboards (with fallback to Databricks defaults if unavailable)
  • Metric view lineage: Hovering over metric views in the lineage panel highlights related visualizations
  • Certification badges: Data objects now display certification and deprecation status in the lineage panel

Genie Enhancements

Genie Agent mode, which uses multi-step reasoning for both straightforward and complex business questions, is now available to more accounts. Regional availability has expanded to include Australia, New Zealand, and Japan.

New capabilities include:

  • Genie conversation sharing (Beta): Share individual conversations with configurable access levels (Private, Reviewable by space managers, or All account users)
  • Workspace-level color palettes: Generated charts now respect visualization color palettes configured at the workspace level
  • Improved context handling: Better identification of relevant previous messages to reduce context loss
  • Benchmark APIs (Beta): New APIs for running benchmarks and retrieving evaluation results

New Products & Public Previews

Genie Code for dashboard authoring (Public Preview) allows teams to automate multi-step dashboard workflows using natural language prompts to create datasets, visualizations, layouts, and filters.

Chat in Databricks One (Beta) provides a unified, full-screen interface for interacting with Genie. Chat routes questions to the most relevant Genie space or answers them directly using available data assets.

Account-level Databricks One (Beta) enables users to discover and interact with AI/BI dashboards and Genie spaces at the account level.

Bug Fixes

Databricks resolved numerous stability issues including date filter keyboard input validation, dashboard theme color palette visibility, Genie Code dataset refresh loops, pivot table formatting, and audit log accuracy for dashboard snapshots and subscriptions.
