Discord Official: Claim Your Game Profile
Discord has launched a new feature enabling game developers to claim official ownership of their game profiles and verify their community servers. The "Discord Official" program gives developers control over how their games appear across Discord, addressing a growing ecosystem that now hosts over 10,000 game communities with more than 80 million members as of December 2025.
What Developers Can Customize
Once a developer claims their game, they unlock the ability to customize:
- Game descriptions and summaries with up-to-date information
- Visual assets including cover art, icons, banners, and screenshots
- Official links to social media, supported platforms, and publisher details
- Server verification that links directly from Steam and the game's Discord profile
The verified server badge will also receive enhanced visibility in Discord's Discovery feature, helping players find official communities more easily.
Prerequisites and Application Process
To qualify for Discord Official, developers must meet specific requirements:
- Maintain a Discord server dedicated to the game
- List the game on Steam with a link to the Discord server
- Have a playable game (Early Access or Full Release status)
- Create a Team in the Discord Developer Portal
- Designate a server owner who will handle verification
The claim process involves navigating to the Developer Portal's Game Identity section, searching for the game, completing a verification form, and awaiting review after receiving a verification code sent to the server owner.
Current Scope and Future Plans
The feature currently supports only PC games listed on Steam in Early Access or Full Release status. Discord indicates that additional features for game developers are in development to streamline game development, testing, and community management workflows.
