What's New

Docker Desktop 4.66.0 includes a substantial engine upgrade and targeted bug fixes across all platforms. The release bundles Docker Engine v29.3.0 and updates the NVIDIA Container Toolkit to v1.19.0, ensuring compatibility with the latest containerization improvements.

Key Changes

Gordon AI Assistant Improvements:

  • Provides pre-filled prompts when deeplinked from command-line failure hints, reducing the friction of getting help
  • Now authenticates before making requests to Docker Hub, preventing rate limiting errors that previously impacted reliability

Critical Bug Fixes:

  • Kubernetes stability: Fixed pod discovery hangs when the kube context is broken or unreachable
  • Terminal reliability: Resolved terminal crashes caused by undefined dimensions errors during terminal resize operations
  • Volume operations: Improved error handling for volume backup export operations (file, image, and registry exports)
  • Windows performance: Eliminated high CPU usage in the Windows API proxy by removing unnecessary process enumeration

Availability

The update is available for Windows (AMD64 and ARM64), macOS (Apple and Intel chips), and Linux (Debian, RPM, and Arch). Releases are gradually rolled out over approximately one week following the release date of March 23, 2026.
