New Practice Tab Available to All Learners
Duolingo has launched a Practice tab that enables learners to break away from their regular lesson sequence and focus on skills that matter most to them. Available on iOS with Android coming soon, the feature is free for all users and complements the platform's existing curriculum.
Practice Options
The Practice tab offers several distinct training modes:
- Mistakes: Review exercises where learners previously made errors, helping them avoid repeating the same mistakes
- Words: Study recommended vocabulary to strengthen language comprehension
- Speak: Practice pronunciation and speaking confidence with guided exercises
- Listen: Develop listening comprehension skills by identifying words and phrases from audio prompts
- Focused Listening: A featured practice mode combining audio recognition
The tab also integrates access to other Duolingo content including Stories, Radio, and Adventures for immersive practice. Max subscribers can additionally review Video Call and Roleplay sessions.
Access and Rollout
To access the Practice tab, users can tap the barbell icon in the bottom menu on their home screen, or find it in the extended menu (three-dot menu) if not immediately visible. The feature rolled out initially on iOS for all language courses, with Android support expected soon.
Alignment with Duolingo's Accessibility Mission
This launch follows Duolingo's earlier decision to make "Explain My Answer"—an in-lesson feedback feature—free to all learners. The Practice tab represents another step toward the company's stated mission of making quality education universally available.
