Claude Opus 4.6 Now Generally Available in GitHub Copilot

Anthropic's latest Claude Opus 4.6 model is now rolling out to GitHub Copilot users across all plan tiers. The model demonstrates strong performance in agentic coding scenarios, particularly for complex tasks that require multi-step planning and tool calling capabilities.

Plan Availability

Claude Opus 4.6 is available to:

• Copilot Pro and Pro+ users
• Copilot Business accounts
• Copilot Enterprise accounts

Where to Access

Users can select Claude Opus 4.6 from the model picker across multiple platforms and interfaces:

• VS Code: Chat, Ask, Edit, and Agent modes
• Visual Studio: Agent and Ask modes
• github.com: Web interface
• GitHub Mobile: iOS and Android apps
• GitHub CLI: Command-line access
• GitHub Copilot Coding Agent: Available for Pro and Pro+ accounts

Rollout and Enablement

The rollout is gradual—if you don't see Claude Opus 4.6 yet, check back soon. For Copilot Enterprise and Business plan administrators, Claude Opus 4.6 access must be explicitly enabled through the Copilot settings policy configuration.
