New Included Usage Alerts

GitHub has launched email notifications to help teams stay informed about their consumption of metered services. When included usage reaches 90% and 100% of your monthly allowance, you'll receive an email alert identifying exactly which product is approaching its limit.

Covered Products

The notifications apply to the following metered services:

  • Actions: minutes and storage
  • Packages: bandwidth and storage
  • Git LFS: bandwidth and storage
  • Codespaces: core hours and storage

Each notification includes your account name, the specific product, approximate usage versus your included allowance, and the current billing period, making it easy to identify consumption patterns before overage charges apply.

Managing Alerts

Admins can control these notifications from the Included usage alerts setting on the "Budgets & alerts" page. Enterprise admins, organization admins, personal account managers, and billing managers all have access to configure whether they receive these notifications. This granular control allows teams to route alerts to the right stakeholders.

Notifications include a direct link to your budgets dashboard for deeper monitoring and analysis of usage trends.
