Expanded Regional Support

GitHub Codespaces data residency has expanded to support Japan as an available region. Previously limited to EU and Australia, this addition enables enterprises operating in Japan to leverage cloud-based development environments while complying with local data residency requirements.

What's Available

Enterprises hosted in the Japan region can now:

• Create and manage Codespaces with data residency enabled
• Access the same functionality and performance as other supported regions
• Ensure code and development data remain within Japanese data centers

Public Preview Status

Japan's inclusion follows the January announcement of Codespaces data residency entering public preview for GitHub Enterprise. The region was initially listed as "coming soon" during the preview period and has now been validated and promoted to full support within the public preview program.
