Gemini 3.1 Pro Now Available in GitHub Copilot

Google's Gemini 3.1 Pro model is rolling out to GitHub Copilot as a new option for developers. The model is available in public preview for Copilot Enterprise, Copilot Business, Copilot Pro, and Copilot Pro+ subscribers.

Supported Platforms

You can now access Gemini 3.1 Pro through GitHub Copilot Chat across a wide range of development environments:

  • Web: github.com and GitHub Mobile
  • Editors: Visual Studio Code, Visual Studio, JetBrains IDEs, Xcode, and Eclipse

The model is available in chat, agent, ask, and edit modes through the chat model picker.

How to Enable

For Copilot Business and Enterprise users, organization administrators must explicitly opt in by enabling the Gemini 3.1 Pro policy in Copilot settings. Once enabled, all users in that organization will see Gemini 3.1 Pro available in the model picker. Individual Copilot Pro and Pro+ subscribers should have access available now, though rollout may be gradual.

Getting Started

Refer to the Copilot models documentation for complete details on all available models and their capabilities. The GitHub Community is open for feedback on the new model through their Copilot Conversations forum.
