GitHub Copilot agents now support image uploads for context
Image Support for Copilot Agents
GitHub has expanded the capabilities of Copilot agent sessions by introducing native image upload functionality. Developers can now seamlessly incorporate images into their agent interactions using multiple input methods.
How It Works
Users can add images to agent sessions in three ways:
- Paste: Copy and paste images directly into the chat
- Drag and drop: Drag images into the session window
- Click: Use the image icon button to browse and select files
This feature is available across all agent workspaces on GitHub.com, including the recently released Agents tab in repositories.
Use Cases
Adding images to agent sessions enables developers to:
- Share screenshots of errors, UI issues, or design mockups
- Provide visual context for code reviews and debugging
- Reference diagrams, architecture drawings, or documentation
- Clarify requirements with visual examples
Feedback and Iteration
GitHub is actively collecting feedback on this feature. Users can click the Give feedback button in the top-right corner of any agent session to share their experience and suggest improvements.
