Model Selection Now Available for Business and Enterprise

GitHub has extended model picker functionality to Copilot Business and Copilot Enterprise users, building on the model selection feature launched in December for Copilot Pro and Pro+ subscribers. This feature allows teams to choose the optimal AI model for each coding task assigned to Copilot's autonomous agent.

Available Models

When assigning an issue to Copilot on github.com or starting a task from the agents tab, agents panel, GitHub Mobile, or Raycast launcher, you can select from:

  • Claude models: Opus 4.5, Opus 4.6, Sonnet 4.5, Sonnet 4.6
  • OpenAI GPT models: GPT-5.1-Codex-Max, GPT-5.2-Codex, GPT-5.3-Codex
  • Auto (default): Copilot automatically optimizes speed and performance by selecting the best available model

Important Notes for Administrators

If your organization's administrator has not enabled any of the models above, the model picker will not appear in the UI, and Claude Sonnet 4.6 will be used as the default model. Organizations can configure which models are available to their teams based on their specific needs and preferences.

For detailed instructions on model selection and configuration, see the Copilot coding agent model selection documentation.
