Organization-Level Analytics Now Available
GitHub has expanded its Copilot usage metrics functionality to the organization level, moving beyond the previously enterprise-only dashboards. Organization owners can now view detailed Copilot usage metrics directly in the GitHub UI, giving teams better visibility into adoption patterns and trends without needing to rely on enterprise-level reporting.
Key Capabilities
The dashboard provides organization-scoped insights that mirror the recently released organization usage APIs, presenting data in an easy-to-scan format. Organization owners and users with appropriate custom roles can access the dashboard (requiring the View Organization Copilot Metrics permission), as long as Copilot usage metrics are enabled.
Key benefits include:
- Track Copilot adoption and usage trends at the organization level
- Grant access using least-privilege organization-scoped roles without exposing enterprise-wide metrics
- Reduce dependency on enterprise reporting for day-to-day organizational insights
Availability and Access
All organization types can use this feature, including:
- Enterprise-owned organizations
- Standalone Free or Team organizations
Important consideration: Organization-level totals will not match enterprise totals when organizations belong to an enterprise. Since users can be members of multiple organizations, their usage may appear across multiple organization reports, while enterprise reporting deduplicates users across organizations.
Developers can reference the Copilot metrics documentation for a complete list of available metrics.
