GitHub has announced official support for GitHub Copilot in Zed, the high-performance multiplayer code editor built in Rust by the creators of Atom and Tree-sitter. This partnership allows developers to use their existing Copilot subscriptions across additional development tools and workflows.
Supported Subscriptions
All developers with paid GitHub Copilot subscriptions can now authenticate into Zed:
- Copilot Pro
- Copilot Pro+
- Copilot Business
- Copilot Enterprise
No additional AI license or subscription is required beyond your existing Copilot subscription.
Getting Started
Using Copilot in Zed is straightforward:
- Open Settings in Zed
- Navigate to the GitHub Copilot Chat section
- Click Sign in to use GitHub Copilot
- Follow the authentication flow in the modal
- Start using Copilot-powered features in your editor
