GitHub Copilot support in Zed now generally available for all subscription tiers

General Availability

GitHub Copilot is now officially supported in Zed through a formal partnership, allowing developers to leverage their existing Copilot subscriptions across an additional editor. This general availability announcement means Zed users can access the same AI-powered coding assistance available in other supported editors and IDEs.

What's Included

  • Full authentication support: Sign in with your existing GitHub Copilot credentials directly within Zed
  • All subscription tiers supported: Copilot Pro, Pro+, Business, and Enterprise users can all authenticate and use the service
  • No additional licenses required: Leverage your existing Copilot subscription—no separate AI license needed

Getting Started

The setup process is straightforward:

  1. Open Settings in Zed
  2. Navigate to the "GitHub Copilot Chat" section
  3. Click "Sign in to use GitHub Copilot" and follow the authentication modal
  4. Begin using Copilot features immediately
