GitHub Mobile adds live notifications for Copilot coding agent sessions

Live Coding Agent Notifications Now Available

GitHub Mobile now includes Live Activities that surface real-time progress updates from coding agent sessions directly on your phone. Whether you initiated an agent session from GitHub.com, GitHub Mobile, or the CLI, you'll receive live notifications tracking the agent's work as it happens.

What You Get

The Live Activities display key session information including:

  • Related pull request title and current status
  • Session state: In progress, Completed, Failed, or Cancelled
  • Quick access to tap through to the pull request and review changes in-app

This eliminates the need to constantly check your desktop to stay informed about your coding agents' progress while on the go.

Supported Platforms and Agents

Compatible with:

  • Copilot coding agent
  • Supported third-party agents (Codex, Claude)
  • Cloud-run sessions only (on-device sessions not yet supported)

Device requirements:

  • iOS 17.2 or later (for Live Activities)
  • Android 16 or later (for Live Update Notifications)
  • Note: Older Android versions will still receive standard progress notifications

Managing Live Notifications

You have full control over the feature—disable Live Activities anytime in Settings, or tap the "Disable Live Updates" button on your first live notification for quick opt-out. This feature is available now in the latest production builds of GitHub Mobile for iOS and Android.
