GitHub Mobile gains Copilot model picker for on-the-go coding sessions

GitHub Mobile Model Picker Now Available

GitHub has rolled out a model picker feature for the Copilot coding agent in its mobile app, enabling subscribers to select which AI model powers their coding sessions on-the-go.

Available Models

Users can choose from:

  • Auto (optimizes for speed and performance based on availability)
  • Anthropic Claude Opus 4.5 and Claude Opus 4.6
  • Anthropic Claude Sonnet 4.5
  • OpenAI GPT-5.1-Codex-Max and GPT-5.2-Codex

Current Availability and Rollout

The feature is now generally available for Copilot Pro and Pro+ subscribers on both iOS and Android platforms. Support for Copilot Business and Enterprise customers is coming soon.

Key Benefits

This addition addresses a common mobile workflow gap: developers can now match model selection to their immediate needs without returning to desktop. Users seeking faster responses for quick tasks can select a lightweight model, while deeper work can leverage more capable alternatives like Claude Opus 4.6.

Developers should update to the latest production build of GitHub Mobile to access this feature.
