GPT-5.4 Rollout

OpenAI's latest agentic coding model, GPT-5.4, is now generally available in GitHub Copilot. Early testing demonstrates new success rates in real-world agentic and software development scenarios, with notable improvements in logical reasoning and task execution for intricate, multi-step, tool-dependent processes.

Where to Use GPT-5.4

The model is available across a comprehensive range of development environments and platforms:

  • IDEs & Editors: Visual Studio Code (v1.104.1+), Visual Studio (17.14.19+), JetBrains (1.5.66+), Xcode (0.48.0+), Eclipse (0.15.1+)
  • Web & Mobile: GitHub.com, GitHub Mobile (iOS and Android)
  • Command Line: GitHub CLI and GitHub Copilot Coding Agent

Developers can select GPT-5.4 from the model picker in all modes including chat, ask, edit, and agent capabilities.

Access & Requirements

GPT-5.4 is available to Copilot Pro, Pro+, Business, and Enterprise subscribers. Enterprise and Business plan administrators must explicitly enable the GPT-5.4 policy in Copilot settings before their users can access it.
