GitHub has made Grok Code Fast 1 generally available to Copilot Free plan users through its auto model selection feature. This expansion gives free-tier users access to an additional AI model that Copilot Chat can automatically choose from when generating suggestions.

What's Changing

Grok Code Fast 1 is now part of the Auto model option in GitHub Copilot Chat. This means Copilot will intelligently select between available models—including Grok Code Fast 1—based on the task at hand, providing users with optimized performance and speed without requiring manual model switching.
