Grok Code Fast 1 Added to Copilot Free

GitHub has made Grok Code Fast 1 generally available to Copilot Free plan users through the auto model selection feature. This means developers on free plans will now have access to this model as part of the Auto option in Copilot Chat.

Where It's Available

The model is now integrated into Copilot Chat across the following IDEs and editors:

• Visual Studio Code
• Visual Studio
• JetBrains IDEs
• Xcode
• Eclipse

How Auto Model Selection Works

With auto model selection enabled, GitHub Copilot automatically chooses the most appropriate model for your request from the available options. By adding Grok Code Fast 1 to this pool, Copilot Free users now have access to broader model capabilities without needing to manually select a model.
