Neon launches Cursor plugin for AI-assisted Postgres workflows
Neon Plugin Now Available in Cursor Marketplace
Neon has launched an official plugin for Cursor, the AI-powered code editor, available immediately in the Cursor Marketplace. The plugin gives Cursor live access to your Neon organization, enabling AI-assisted database management directly within the editor.
What's Included
The Neon plugin bundles two core components:
- Neon MCP Server — Provides live access to your Neon organization and databases
- Neon Skill — Defines structured workflows and best practices for database operations with Neon
Getting Started
Installing the plugin is straightforward:
- Visit the Cursor Marketplace
- Click "Add to Cursor"
- The plugin becomes available across all Cursor surfaces (desktop, CLI, web, and mobile)
Why This Matters
With this integration, developers can now:
- Move beyond code generation — Cursor can assist with database schema design, migrations, and optimization
- Reduce context switching — Manage Postgres workflows without leaving your editor
- Leverage AI for database tasks — Get AI-assisted help with real infrastructure work, not just code
The Neon plugin joins Cursor's initial marketplace launch alongside integrations for Linear, Notion, Figma, Vercel, Stripe, Sentry, and Databricks, creating a comprehensive development stack directly accessible from the AI editor.
