NVIDIA IGX Thor Platform Overview

NVIDIA announced the IGX Thor platform, an enterprise-ready edge AI system designed for industrial, medical, and robotics applications requiring high performance, safety compliance, and extended lifecycle support. The platform combines server-class AI compute with industrial-grade hardware, functional safety features, and enterprise software stacks suitable for harsh physical environments and regulated infrastructures.

Platform Configurations

The IGX Thor family includes four purpose-built modules:

  • IGX T5000 SoM: A compact System-on-Module with 2,070 FP4 TFLOPS, featuring a 2,560-core Blackwell GPU, 14-core Arm Neoverse-V3AE CPU, 128 GB LPDDR5X memory, and integrated functional safety capabilities. Designed for custom integration and domain-specific industrial systems.

  • IGX T7000 Board Kit: A MicroATX form factor system offering up to 5,581 FP4 TFLOPS with optional discrete GPU expansion, dual 200 GbE networking with RDMA, and rich I/O for demanding edge AI workloads.

  • Developer Kits: Full-featured development platforms (standard and Mini variants) with advanced sensing, robotics, and real-time AI pipeline support for prototyping and validation.

Key Technical Capabilities

Computing Performance: All modules leverage NVIDIA's Blackwell GPU architecture with fifth-generation Tensor Cores, multi-instance GPU support, and up to 273 GB/s memory bandwidth via 256-bit LPDDR5X (128 GB).

Safety and Compliance: Integrated Functional Safety Islands (FSI) in the SoC, plus Safety MCUs in higher-end configurations, provide ISO 26262 and IEC 61508 compliance for safety-critical applications. Dual 200 GbE networking with RDMA support enables low-latency sensor data handling critical for real-time edge AI.

Extended Support: Enterprise-grade long-term software and hardware support ensures mission-critical reliability and standards compliance for industrial deployments.

Developer Actions

Developers targeting industrial AI, robotics, factory automation, and medical imaging systems can now evaluate IGX Thor through the Developer Kits to prototype safety-compliant edge AI applications. The modular family allows scaling from compact SoM form factors to full-featured board kits based on performance and footprint requirements.
