NVIDIA IGX Thor: Enterprise Edge AI Platform

NVIDIA announced the IGX Thor platform, a comprehensive edge computing solution purpose-built for industrial, medical, and robotics applications requiring high-performance AI with strict safety and compliance requirements.

Platform Overview

IGX Thor addresses the growing demand for sophisticated AI inference and sensor fusion at the edge—from factory automation and autonomous mobile robots to surgical systems. The platform combines server-class AI compute (up to 5,581 FP4 TFLOPS), industrial-grade hardware, advanced functional safety capabilities, and extended lifecycle support suitable for regulated environments.

Product Lineup

The IGX Thor family includes four configurable options:

  • IGX T5000 System-on-Module (SoM): Compact embedded compute (2,070 FP4 TFLOPS) with integrated safety MCU, ideal for custom carrier board integration and domain-specific applications
  • IGX T7000 Board Kit: High-performance scalable platform (5,581 FP4 TFLOPS) in MicroATX form factor with dual 200 GbE networking, optional discrete GPU, and rich I/O for demanding workloads
  • IGX Thor Developer Kit: Full-featured development platform supporting advanced sensing, robotics, and real-time AI pipelines
  • IGX Thor Developer Kit Mini: Compact variant optimized for space and power-constrained environments like mobile robots

Key Technical Features

All variants feature NVIDIA Blackwell GPU architecture with a 14-core Arm Neoverse-V3AE CPU and 128 GB LPDDR5X memory. Functional safety is built-in through dedicated Safety Islands in the SoC and optional safety MCU modules, with compliance certifications for ISO 26262 and IEC 61508—critical for regulated industries. Dual 200 GbE networking with RDMA support enables low-latency sensor data handling and distributed inference.

Developer Resources

The platform runs real-time Linux with compatibility across NVIDIA Jetson hardware and software stacks, enabling developers to leverage existing tools and frameworks. Enterprise-grade long-term software and hardware support ensures mission-critical deployments maintain reliability and regulatory compliance.
