DDoS Protection by Default
Railway has partnered with Fastly to deliver built-in DDoS protection across all public services. All traffic now routes through Fastly's global network of 100+ points of presence, where malicious traffic is filtered before reaching your infrastructure. This protection is enabled automatically with no configuration required—no proxy setup, no feature flags, no plan upgrades needed.
Previously, customers had to manage DDoS protection separately through external providers, requiring context-switching between platforms and manual DNS configuration. This integration eliminates that friction entirely.
Domain Registration and Management
Railway is introducing integrated domain registration and management for Priority Boarding tier customers. You can now search, purchase, and manage domains directly within the Railway dashboard—supporting over 250 TLDs with AI-powered naming suggestions.
Key features include:
- Automatic DNS configuration when purchasing a domain from a service's networking settings
- WHOIS privacy and auto-renewal enabled by default on all domains
- Cost-based pricing, rounded to the nearest dollar
- Centralized management at
railway.com/workspace/domainsfor expiry dates, attached services, and payment status - Import/export layouts between environments for flexible organization
No more juggling external registrars and DNS providers—everything happens within Railway.
Per-Environment Canvas Layouts
Canvas state (node positions, groupings, edge anchors) is now scoped per environment instead of shared across the entire project. Previously, all team members and environments shared one layout, causing phantom nodes to appear, layout conflicts when multiple people edited simultaneously, and misaligned positions when deploying templates across environments.
Now, creating a new environment copies the layout as a starting point, but the two remain independent. This allows teams to organize production differently from staging, arrange by dependency chains in one environment and by team ownership in another, and avoid layout conflicts during concurrent edits.
Additional Improvements
Minor fixes and enhancements include: variable autocompletion and markdown support in template deployments, centered canvas views when side panels are open, improved GitHub installation error visibility, corrected domain TXT record formatting, and the ability to paste GitHub URLs directly in the command palette.
