Design Canvas Replaces Design Mode

Design Mode has been replaced by the Design Canvas—an infinite canvas that serves as the centerpiece of the design workflow. The new canvas displays both artifact previews (interactive, live versions of your actual app) and design mockups (lighter visual prototypes for fast exploration) side by side. Unlike the previous Design Mode, the Design Canvas supports all artifact types including web apps, mobile apps, slide decks, and data visualizations.

With the Design Canvas, you can resize frames, edit inline, change colors, and preview designs across mobile, tablet, and desktop screen sizes—all without triggering a full agent loop. When ready to move from exploration to implementation, you simply select a frame and ask the Agent to convert it into a real Artifact.

Unified Team Collaboration

The fork-and-merge collaboration model has been entirely reimagined. Instead of teammates forking projects and resolving merge conflicts manually, everyone now works in the same shared project. Each collaborator creates their own chat thread as a personal planning space while maintaining visibility into teammates' work through a shared Kanban board.

Tasks are organized into four columns: Drafts, Active, Ready, and Done, providing real-time visibility across the team. When tasks are ready to merge, the Agent assists with the process—eliminating manual conflict resolution while still tracking changes in Git.

Multi-Artifact and Parallel Workflows

Agent 4 eliminates the constraint of pre-selecting a single artifact type. You can now create slides, websites, web apps, mobile apps, and more within the same project. The Agent can even build different artifacts in parallel and connect external services like Linear, Slack, Notion, and Google Sheets.

Planning and building now happen simultaneously. You can open a new chat to plan with the Agent while your main build continues running. Proposed plans create tasks that execute in isolated, exact copies of your current project, allowing continuous progress without waiting for planning to complete.

Backward Compatibility

Existing Agent 3 projects remain fully functional—nothing has been deleted or broken. The Design Canvas, shared collaboration, and parallel task execution features are available in new projects. Note that multi-app projects in a single workspace are not yet compatible with old projects but are in development.
