Replit Animation: Launch Videos in Your Workspace
Replit has launched Replit Animation, a new feature that lets developers ship motion-style launch videos directly inside their Replit workspace. Instead of hiring motion graphics agencies or spending weeks on external production, builders can now describe their video in natural language and generate polished, launch-ready clips in minutes.
How It Started
Replit Animation began as a design experiment when the product team wondered if the same AI setup that generates sites and decks could drive animation. After testing with Gemini, Samuel from product design created a launch-style video that looked studio-made—within 30 minutes. Two days later, the team needed a Fast Mode launch video on short notice and shipped Samuel's experimental video instead of briefing an external agency. The video garnered over a million organic impressions on social media, validating the concept enough that the team turned it into a full product.
What Replit Animation Does
Replit Animation is purpose-built for launch workflows and differs from generic AI video generators. Key capabilities include:
- Natural language video generation: Describe what you're launching, the target audience, and desired vibe instead of writing storyboards or code
- Integrated workspace: Generate, iterate, and refine videos without switching tools—everything happens inside Replit
- Cost and time savings: Replace expensive motion graphics studios (typically thousands of dollars and weeks of turnaround) with in-house production that runs in minutes
- Iterative refinement: Generate a first cut quickly, then keep tweaking scenes and prompts until it matches your vision
Getting Started
The feature uses a dedicated "animation" build type within Replit. Developers should:
- Create a new animation project in the app tab (not design mode)
- Use the built-in prompt optimizer to turn casual ideas into structured scene-by-scene outlines with visual direction
- Iterate on generated scenes by refining prompts, layering in narration, and adjusting motion styling
- Export the final video for launch
Samuel notes that even Replit, despite having resources and agency relationships, now produces many launch videos in-house using this product because "it's so effective."
