Overview

Stripe has launched Managed Payments, a comprehensive merchant of record solution designed to simplify global digital sales. This new offering allows merchants to sell digital products internationally while offloading critical compliance and operational responsibilities to Stripe.

Key Capabilities

Managed Payments handles:

  • Indirect tax compliance including sales taxes, VAT, and GST
  • Fraud prevention and risk management
  • Customer transaction support and dispute resolution
  • Order management and fulfillment coordination

Implementation

To enable Managed Payments:

  1. Accept the Managed Payments Terms of Service in your Stripe dashboard
  2. Set the managed_payments parameter to true when creating a Checkout Session
  3. Upgrade your SDK or API requests to use version 2026-02-25.preview

Supported SDKs

This feature is available across all major Stripe SDK languages:

  • REST API
  • Ruby, Python, PHP, Java, Node.js, Go, and .NET

Developers can roll back their API version for up to 72 hours if needed during testing and integration.
