Overview

Cloudflare has released a new beta version of its WARP client for macOS with a significant UI redesign and numerous stability improvements. The update transforms the interface from toggle-based connectivity management to a more intuitive button-based system.

Key Interface Changes

The redesigned Cloudflare One Client interface includes:

• Connectivity management: Changed from a toggle switch to a button-based control for clearer connect/disconnect actions
• Home screen improvements: Essential connectivity settings are now accessible directly from the home screen
• Collapsible navigation bar: Expanded navigation provides access to connectivity status, settings, and device profile information without cluttering the main interface

Bug Fixes and Reliability Improvements

This release addresses several critical issues:

• MDM configuration validation: Empty MDM files are now properly rejected instead of being accepted as valid configurations
• Proxy mode stability: Fixed an issue where the client could become unresponsive due to upstream connection timeouts
• Organization switching: Resolved emergency disconnect state incorrectly persisting when switching between organizations
• Network detection: Fixed managed network detection checks that could be initiated without an available network, causing device profile instability

Technical Enhancements

• QUIC connection metrics are now included in diagnostic logs for improved troubleshooting
• Tunnel congestion control algorithm switched to Cubic for enhanced reliability
• Added monitoring for tunnel statistics collection timeout events
• CLI command distinction between consumer-only and Zero Trust commands for clarity

Known Issues

Users should be aware of three remaining issues: the client may become stuck in a Connecting state (resolved by disconnecting and reconnecting), display an empty white screen after sleep (fixed by restarting the app), and fail to resume authentication if login is canceled during MDM setup (workaround: exit and relaunch).
