GitHub Copilot adds GPT-5.3-Codex model across web, mobile, and desktop IDEs

Model Availability

GPT-5.3-Codex is now generally available to all Copilot tiers: Copilot Enterprise, Copilot Business, Copilot Pro, and Copilot Pro+. The model is accessible through the chat model picker in multiple environments, making it available wherever developers currently use GitHub Copilot Chat.

Where You Can Access It

The new model is available across GitHub's primary development platforms:

  • github.com - In the web-based Copilot Chat interface
  • GitHub Mobile - For on-the-go coding assistance
  • Visual Studio Code - The most popular code editor
  • Visual Studio - Microsoft's full-featured IDE

Simply open the model picker in Copilot Chat to start using GPT-5.3-Codex alongside other available models.

Enabling for Organizations

Copilot Business and Enterprise administrators must explicitly enable the GPT-5.3-Codex policy in their Copilot settings to make the model available to their organization's users. Once enabled, the model will appear in the model picker for all eligible users in that organization. Individual Copilot Pro and Pro+ subscribers should have immediate access.
