GitHub Mobile gets live agent notifications for real-time Copilot coding session tracking
Live Notifications for Coding Agents
GitHub Mobile now includes Live Coding Agent Notifications, enabling real-time tracking of Copilot coding agent and supported third-party agent sessions directly on your mobile device. This feature brings agent session updates to your phone whether the session was initiated from GitHub.com, GitHub Mobile, or the CLI.
What You'll See
The Live Notifications display key session details including:
- Related pull request title
- Current session status
- Direct tap-through to view PR changes in the app
Users can monitor four session states:
- In progress — agent is actively working
- Completed — task finished successfully
- Failed — task encountered an error
- Cancelled — task was manually stopped
Platform Support & Availability
Live Coding Agent Notifications are currently available for:
- Pull request agent sessions from Copilot coding agent, Claude, Codex, and other supported third-party agents
- iOS 17.2+ with Live Activities support
- Android 16+ for Live Update Notifications (older versions still receive standard progress notifications)
- Cloud-run sessions only at this time
Getting Started
The feature is available now in the latest production build of GitHub Mobile on iOS and Android. You can disable Live Activities at any time in Settings, or use the quick "Disable Live Updates" button in the first notification if you prefer not to use this feature.
