Time in Status Tracking

Linear has introduced time-in-status metrics across its platform, providing teams with visibility into how long issues linger at each workflow stage. This metric helps identify where work gets blocked or delayed in your development process.

Key capabilities:

  • Hover previews: See cumulative time spent in each status by hovering over any issue's status indicator
  • Sorting and filtering: Order views by time in status to surface blocked work, or filter conditions like In Review > 7 days to catch stalled issues
  • Analytics integration: Analyze time-in-status metrics in Insights and Dashboards, slice by time period, and compare performance across your workspace

Jira Epic Sync

Linear also upgraded its Jira integration to support bi-directional synchronization between Jira Epics and Linear projects. Changes to status, target date, and description now automatically reflect in both applications, eliminating manual sync work.

Additional Updates

The release includes numerous fixes and improvements:

  • Fixed board scroll position restoration when using row grouping
  • Improved slash command sub-menus to work with mouse selection
  • Enhanced assignee search ranking for project and team members
  • Added project creation and editing support on iOS and Android apps
  • MCP server updates allowing assignee and lead fields to be set to null for removal

The time in status display option is available in Linear's views, while the metric is exposed as a new measure in Insights for deeper analysis.
